We have found the following products complement our commitment to safety and finding comfort in your home, even when you are away from home.
Indoor Air Quality
For more information:
Carbon Monoxide:
Carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas. Because it is impossible to see, taste or smell, CO can overcome you before you are aware it is in your home. At lower levels of exposure, CO causes mild effects that are often mistaken for the flu. These symptoms include headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea and fatigue. The effects of CO exposure can vary greatly from person to person depending on age, overall health and the concentration and length of exposure to CO. Higher levels of CO exposure can result in death.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms:
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommends that
every home should have a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm. CPSC also urges
consumers to have a professional inspection of all fuel-burning
appliances - including furnaces, stoves, fireplaces, clothes dryers,
water heaters, and space heaters - to detect deadly carbon monoxide
leaks. CPSC recommends that every home should have at least one
CO alarm that meets the requirements of the most recent Underwriters
Laboratories (UL) 2034 standard or International Approval Services
6-96 standard. We recommend sensors from American
Sensors.
Propane Gas Detectors
For those who can't smell very well and use propane for cooking, hot water, or heat, we highly recommend a propane gas detector. The detector will go off and warn you of a leak long before the propane gas reaches explosive levels.
Freeze Alarms
The last thing anyone wants to come home to is a cold house. Worse yet is the damage that can result from frozen and burst water pipes should the house get below freezing. With a freeze alarm someone can be alerted in the event your house falls below a set temperature. This is particularly important tool for people with seasonal or second homes, or folks who travel a lot and are worried about the reliability of their heating system. We recommend FreezeAlarm™ products for their reliability and ease of use.

Air Quality
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), indoor air is up to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air on average. Plus, if you're like the typical person, you spend an astonishing 90% of your life indoors.
Here are more frightening facts to consider about indoor air pollution:
- Many homes have airborne pollutant levels 25 to 100 times higher than air outside the home.
- Americans spend 90% of their time indoors.
- 1,500 hazardous substances may be found in the typical North American home.
- Biological pollutants such as bacteria and molds like Aspergillus (a primary food source for dust mites) promote poor indoor air quality.
Those particularly vulnerable to indoor pollutants include infants, the elderly, those with heart and lung diseases, and people with asthma. Additionally, anyone with extreme sensitivity to chemicals might want to seriously consider using an air purifier.
If you take indoor air quality seriously, we recommend Gaurdian air purifiers.
